Western authors do not usually recognize the genus Parasalmo. Type information: Svetovidov 1978:15 [ref. 6025]. •Valid as Salmo penshinensis Pallas 1814 -- (Berg 1948:261 [ref. 12882]). •Synonym of Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum 1792) -- (Behnke 1992:204 [ref. 23385]). •Synonym of Parasalmo mykiss (Walbaum 1792) -- (Dorofeeva & Savvaitova 1998:34 [ref. 23574]). •Valid as Parasalmo penshinensis (Pallas 1814) -- (Chereshnev 1996:604 [ref. 24659], Sheiko & Fedorov 2000:20 [ref. 25650], Bogutskaya et al. 2001:46 [ref. 26178], Chereshnev et al. 2001:89 [ref. 26736], Fedorov et al. 2003:40 [ref. 27579], Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004:155 [ref. 28183], Parin et al. 2014:136 [ref. 33547], Dyldin et al. 2020:83, 113 [ref. 37569]). •Valid as Oncorhynchus penshinensis (Pallas 1814). Current status: Valid as Oncorhynchus penshinensis (Pallas 1814). Salmonidae: Salmoninae. Distribution: East Asia: mainly in rivers of western Kamchatka, but also found in eastern part to Ozernaya River, Northwestern Pacific watersheds (Russia). Habitat: freshwater.
