Lectotype: USNM 44283 (poor condition). Paralectotypes: (1). Lectotype established (as figured specimen) in caption to Pl. 87, p. 3250 in Jordan & Evermann 1900 [ref. 2446] if figured specimen is identifiable. •Valid as Bathylagus stilbius (Gilbert 1890) -- (De La Cruz Agüero et al. 1997:68 [ref. 24545]). •Valid as Leuroglossus stilbius Gilbert 1890 -- (Alverson 1951:86 [ref. 41114], Peden 1981:2396 [ref. 5512], Kanayama in Amaoka et al. 1983:231, 315 [ref. 8379], Matarese et al. 1989:68 [ref. 26885], McAllister 1990:72 [ref. 14674], Mecklenburg et al. 2002:149 [ref. 25968], Nelson et al. 2004:85 [ref. 27807], Love et al. 2005:29 [ref. 37547], Page et al. 2013:85 [ref. 32708], Burton & Lea 2019:38 [ref. 37205], Love et al. 2021:47 [ref. 39279], Page et al. 2023:81 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Leuroglossus stilbius Gilbert 1890. Bathylagidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Oregon (U.S.A.) south to Colombia, including Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
