Holotype (unique): CSIRO B 1704. We treat lupina [ïn view of the name Little Wolf as used by Whitley] as a noun. •Questionably valid as Astronesthes lupina and based on a larval specimen -- (Paxton et al. 1989:195 [ref. 12442]). •Valid as Astronesthes lupina Whitley 1941 -- (Harold 1999:1906 [ref. 24741], Paxton et al. 2006:437 [ref. 28995]). Current status: Valid as Astronesthes lupina Whitley 1941. Stomiidae: Astronesthinae. Distribution: Australia. Habitat: marine.
