Syntypes: MCZ 28509-11 (10, 1, 1); USNM 57848 (2). •Valid as Chlorophthalmus mento Garman 1899 -- (Bussing & López S. 1994:54 [ref. 23101], Sulak in Fischer et al. 1995:1006 [ref. 22829], Sato & Nakabo 2002:25 [ref. 25953], Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006:252 [ref. 28944], McCosker & Rosenblatt 2010:189 [ref. 30957], Kobyliansky 2013:373 [ref. 32874], Gomon et al. 2014:[C] 1029 [ref. 37655], Robertson et al. 2017:45 [ref. 35676], Sánchez-Jiménez et al. 2018:6 [ref. 36248], Fricke & Durville 2020:9 [ref. 37648], Grove et al. 2022:17 [ref. 41326]). Current status: Valid as Chlorophthalmus mento Garman 1899. Chlorophthalmidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Costa Rica south to Peru, including Cocos Island (Costa Rica) and and Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). Habitat: marine.
