Current status: Valid as Bathypterois ventralis Garman 1899. Ipnopidae. Distribution: Southeastern Indian Ocean: off Australia; eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of southern Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to Chile. Habitat: marine.
