Distribution: Western Atlantic: Massachusetts (U.S.A.) south to Uruguay, including Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. Eastern Pacific populations are now classified as Oligoplites inornatus Gill 1863. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
