Paratypes: YPM 2300 (1, 113 mm, c&s). Type catalog: Moore & Boardman 1991:24 [ref. 16741] as syntypes. •Valid as Scopelarchoides nicholsi Parr 1929 -- (Johnson 1974:136 [ref. 7050], Johnson 1982:165 [ref. 5519], Pequeño 1989:34 [ref. 14125], Chen 2002:238 [ref. 26587], Love et al. 2005:40 [ref. 37547], Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006:253 [ref. 28944], Davis 2015:67 [ref. 33682], Robertson et al. 2017:48 [ref. 35676], Love et al. 2021:62 [ref. 39279], Grove et al. 2022:17 [ref. 41326], Page et al. 2023:91 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Scopelarchoides nicholsi Parr 1929. Scopelarchidae. Distribution: Atlantic; eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of central Baja California (Mexico) south to northern Chile, including Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). IUCN (2019): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
