Syntypes: ?SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 981 (1) Pickle station 42. Combined with a neuter genus, the adjective should be capense. •Valid as Lepidion capense Gilchrist 1922 [often seen as capensis] -- (Cohen 1986:327 [ref. 5646], Cohen in Cohen et al. 1990:364 [ref. 18936], Trunov 1992:3 [ref. 24540], Bianchi & Carpenter in Bianchi et al. 1993:142 [ref. 25472], Trunov 1999:463 [ref. 24579], Bañón et al. 2012:1 [ref. 32386], Fricke et al. 2018:81 [ref. 35805]). Current status: Valid as Lepidion capense Gilchrist 1922. Moridae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: South Africa to Madagascar. Habitat: marine.
