Syntypes: (11) SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 796 (3). Type information: Winterbottom 1974:3 [ref. 19544]. Combined with a neuter genus, the adjective should be natalense. •Valid as Lepidion natalense Gilchrist 1922 [often seen as natalensis] -- (Cohen 1986:327 [ref. 5646], Cohen in Cohen et al. 1990:364 [ref. 18936], Trunov 1992:5 [ref. 24540], Bañón et al. 2012:1 [ref. 32386], Fricke et al. 2024:[6] [ref. 41106]). Current status: Valid as Lepidion natalense Gilchrist 1922. Moridae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: southern Africa; La Réunion (western Mascarenes). Habitat: marine.
