Pennant 1784 proposed name G.[adus] dypterygius and referred to Müller sp. no. 346 where description appeared; therefore, name is available from Pennant 1784 by indication. In Müller 1776:42 [ref. 17808] as "Gadus dipterygius, cirratus..." but not proposed as a binominal and not available.
