Holotype (unique): USNM 76867. Misspelled durus in caption to Pl. 10. Name from "Dara, the Japanese name of certain macrouroid fishes." A Latinized noun, should not decline. •Valid as Nezumia darus (Gilbert & Hubbs 1916) -- (Okamura in Okamura et al. 1982:161, 349 [ref. 8256], Okamura in Masuda et al. 1984:95 [ref. 6441], Okamura in Okamura & Kitajima 1984:217, 363 [ref. 8057], Nakabo 2000:424 [ref. 25086], Shinohara et al. 2001:306 [ref. 25995], Nakabo 2002:424 [ref. 26001], Shinohara et al. 2005:418 [ref. 28370]). •Valid as Kuronezumia darus (Gilbert & Hubbs 1916) -- (Iwamoto in Cohen et al. 1990:263 [ref. 18936] as dara, Shcherbachev et al. 1992:100 [ref. 20586] as dara, Iwamoto et al. 2015:82 [ref. 35408] as dara, Nakayama 2020:228 [ref. 37888] as dara). Current status: Valid as Kuronezumia darus (Gilbert & Hubbs 1916). Macrouridae. Distribution: Western North Pacific: Japan and Taiwan. Habitat: marine.
