Holotype (unique): USNM 76867. Misspelled durus in caption to Pl. 10. Name from "Dara, the Japanese name of certain macrouroid fishes." Current status: Valid as Kuronezumia darus (Gilbert & Hubbs 1916). Macrouridae. Distribution: Western North Pacific: Japan and Taiwan. Habitat: marine.
