africana, Ventrifossa Iwamoto [T.] 1970:405, Figs. 24, 25a [Studies in Tropical Oceanography (Miami) No. 4 (pt 2); ref. 18329] Off Liberia, Gulf of Guinea, depth 732 meters. Holotype (unique): USNM 202771. •Valid as Ventrifossa africana Iwamoto 1970 -- (Geistdoerfer 1990:562 [ref. 16195]). •Valid as Nezumia africana (Iwamoto 1970) -- (Iwamoto in Cohen et al. 1990:263 [ref. 18936], Wilson 2001:35 [ref. 25944], Iwamoto 2016:1980 [ref. 34585], Reiner 2019:116 [ref. 38139], Fermon et al. 2022:200 [ref. 39448] possible). Current status: Valid as Nezumia africana (Iwamoto 1970). Macrouridae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Mauritania south to Namibia, including São Tomé and Principe. Habitat: marine.
