M.] & Radcliffe [L.] in Radcliffe 1912:113, Pl. 24 (fig. 1) [Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 43 (no. 1924); ref. 3578] Near Point Tagolo, Mindanao, 8°46'00"N, 123°32'30"E, Albatross station 5516, Philippines, depth 175 fathoms. Holotype: USNM 72929. Paratypes: USNM 148885 (8). First author is H. M. Smith. •Valid as Ventrifossa lucifer (Smith & Radcliffe 1912) -- (Iwamoto 1979:153 [ref. 2311], Iwamoto in Cohen et al. 1990:296 [ref. 18936]). •Valid as Lucigadus lucifer (Smith & Radcliffe 1912) -- (Iwamoto 1999:1992 [ref. 24761], Chiou et al. 2004:45 [ref. 27691], Iwamoto & Okamoto 2015:372 [ref. 33958]). Current status: Valid as Lucigadus lucifer (Smith & Radcliffe 1912). Macrouridae. Distribution: Western Pacific. Habitat: marine.
