Holotype (unique): USNM 72938. First author is H. M. Smith. •Valid as Hyomacrurus hystomus (Smith & Radcliffe 1912) -- (authors). •Valid as Mataeocephalus hyostomus (Smith & Radcliffe 1912) -- (Iwamoto 1999:1992 [ref. 24761], Sazonov et al. 2003:294 [ref. 27176], Iwamoto et al. 2015:88 [ref. 35408]). Current status: Valid as Mataeocephalus hyostomus (Smith & Radcliffe 1912). Macrouridae. Distribution: Philippines, Indonesia and Taiwan. Habitat: marine.
