H.] 1927:75 [Annals and Magazine of Natural History (Series 9) v. 20 (no. 115) (art. 8); ref. 193] 22 miles north of Tugela River mouth, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, southwestern Indian Ocean, depth 115 meters. Lectotype: SAM 12487. Paralectotypes: ?BMNH 1902.5.28.16 (1), 1927.12.6.67 [ex SAM 12487] (1), 1927.12.6.68 [ex SAM 12087] (1); SAM 12084 (1), 12087-88 (now 13, 1), 33644 [ex SAM 12487] (2); USNM 188420 (5, now 4); ZMUC [ex USNM and SAM 12487] P77716 (1). Also appeared as new in Barnard 1927:879 [ref. 194]. Lectotype selected by Nielsen 1995:2 [ref. 21625]. •Valid as Neobythites analis Barnard 1927 -- (Nielsen & Cohen 1986:349 [ref. 5700], Nielsen 1995:2 [ref. 21625], Nielsen & Cohen in Nielsen et al. 1999:82 [ref. 24448], Nielsen 2002:17 [ref. 26394], Nielsen & Uiblein 2022:249 [ref. 39706]). Current status: Valid as Neobythites analis Barnard 1927. Ophidiidae: Neobythitinae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic, southwestern Indian Ocean: Western Cape (South Africa) to southern Mozambique. Habitat: marine.
