fijiense, Harengula Fowler [H. W.] & Bean [B. A.] 1923:3 [Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 63 (no. 2488); ref. 1474] Fiji Islands. Holotype: USNM 82799. Paratypes: USNM 179013 (1). Later treated as Harengula fijiensis by Fowler & Bean. Harengula and Sardinella are feminine, therefore mandatory change to fijiensis when placed in either genus. •Valid as Sardinella fijiensis (Fowler & Bean 1923) (often as fijiense) -- (Whitehead 1985:97 [ref. 5141], Munroe et al. 1999:1811 [ref. 24728], Randall 2005:55 [ref. 28239], Fricke et al. 2011:355 [ref. 31242]). Current status: Valid as Sardinella fijiensis (Fowler & Bean 1923). Clupeidae. Distribution: Western Pacific. Habitat: brackish, marine.
