Paratypes: USNM 76678 (1). •Valid as Neobythites unimaculatus Smith & Radcliffe 1913 -- (Nielsen 1997:71 [ref. 23255], Nielsen & Cohen in Nielsen et al. 1999:83 [ref. 24448], Nielsen 1999:1981 [ref. 24753], Nielsen in Randall & Lim 2000:596 [ref. 25122], Shinohara et al. 2001:308 [ref. 25995], Nielsen 2002:95 [ref. 26394], Hoese et al. 2006:564 [ref. 29051], Fricke et al. 2011:367 [ref. 31242], Okamoto et al. 2011:71 [ref. 31712], Ohashi et al. 2012:27 [ref. 31981], Larson et al. 2013:49 [ref. 32988], Su et al. 2023:251 [ref. 40661], Uiblein & Nielsen 2023:187 [ref. 40427]). Current status: Valid as Neobythites unimaculatus Smith & Radcliffe 1913. Ophidiidae: Neobythitinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Western Australia; Coral Sea east to Fiji, north to Taiwan and Japan. Habitat: marine.
