Lectotype apparently not established by Jordan & Evermann; see Böhlke 1953:102 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Cataetyx rubrirostris Gilbert 1890 -- (Pequeño 1989:48 [ref. 14125] as Cataetix rubirostris, Gibbs 1991:149 [ref. 23103], Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:231 [ref. 24555], Nielsen & Cohen in Nielsen et al. 1999:101 [ref. 24448], Balushkin & Prokofiev 2005:557 [ref. 28326], Love et al. 2005:52 [ref. 37547], Prokofiev 2005:121 [ref. 34466], Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006:199 [ref. 28944], Møller et al. 2016:Appendix A [ref. 34432], Burton & Lea 2019:52 [ref. 37205], Love et al. 2021:84 [ref. 39279]). Current status: Valid as Cataetyx rubrirostris Gilbert 1890. Bythitidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: northern Oregon (U.S.A.) south to Pacific coast of northern Baja California (Mexico); Peru south to central Chile. Habitat: marine.
