Holotype (unique): BMNH 1887.12.7.45 [or 48]. •Valid as Dicrolene quinquarius (Günther 1887) -- (Machida in Masuda et al. 1984:100 [ref. 6441], Machida in Okamura & Kitajima 1984:257, 372 [ref. 8057], Nielsen & Cohen in Nielsen et al. 1999:62 [ref. 24448], Nakabo 2000:439 [ref. 25086], Nielsen in Randall & Lim 2000:596 [ref. 25122] as quinquaris, Shinohara et al. 2001:307 [ref. 25995], Nakabo 2002:439 [ref. 26001], Shinohara et al. 2005:413 [ref. 28370], Fricke et al. 2019:71 [ref. 36673]). Current status: Valid as Dicrolene quinquarius (Günther 1887). Ophidiidae: Neobythitinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: East Africa east to Taiwan and New Ireland (Papua New Guinea), north to southern Japan. Habitat: marine.
