Figured in Alcock 1898: Pl. 21 (fig. 3) [ref. 20534]. •Valid as Tauredophidium hextii Alcock 1890 -- (Cohen & Nielsen 1978:20 [ref. 881], Nielsen 1997:77 [ref. 23255], Machida et al. 1997:175 [ref. 25734], Nielsen & Cohen in Nielsen et al. 1999:92 [ref. 24448], Nielsen 1999:1981 [ref. 24753], Fricke et al. 2011:367 [ref. 31242], Fricke et al. 2018:85 [ref. 35805], Wong & Chen 2024:10 [ref. 41401]). •Valid as Acanthonus hextii (Alcock 1890) -- (Girard et al. 2024:32 [ref. 41338]). Current status: Valid as Acanthonus hextii (Alcock 1890). Acanthonidae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Madagascar; India; New Caledonia; probably more widespread. Habitat: marine.
