Available from footnote as, "Batr. conspicillum, N., ou le prétendu Batr. tau, Bl., pl. lxvii, f. 2 et 3." See also Cuvier & Valenciennes 1837:495 [ref. 1006]. •Synonym of Halobatrachus didactylus (Bloch & Schneider 1801) -- (Monod 1973:657 [ref. 7193] but dating to 1837, Collette & Greenfield 2016:2041 [ref. 34595]). •Possibly valid -- (Collette et al. 2006:937 [ref. 28910]). Current status: Synonym of Halobatrachus didactylus (Bloch & Schneider 1801). Batrachoididae: Halophryninae. Distribution: West Africa: Sierra Leone, Liberia and Ghana [if valid]. Habitat: brackish, marine.
