Also appeared as new in Barnard 1927:994, Pl. 37 (fig. 1) [ref. 194]. •Valid as Chatrabus melanurus (Barnard 1927) -- (Hutchins 1986:359 [ref. 5673], Bianchi & Carpenter in Bianchi et al. 1993:145 [ref. 25472], Greenfield et al. 2008:681 [ref. 30046], Greenfield 2022:277 [ref. 39708]). Current status: Valid as Chatrabus melanurus (Barnard 1927). Batrachoididae: Halophryninae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic, southwestern Indian Ocean: Angola south to Cape of Good Hope (South Africa), then east to Eastern Cape (South Africa). Habitat: marine.
