C.] 1966:37, Fig. 1 [Bulletin, Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Fisheries, Sea Fisheries Research Station Haifa No. 42; ref. 17959] Eilat, Israel, Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea. Holotype: CAS-SU 62701. Paratypes: TAU [= SMNHTAU] P.2737 (1, poor condition). East Indian records are probably misidentifications of L. lineatus [ref. 31980]. •Valid as Discotrema lineata [should be lineatum] (Briggs 1966) -- (Nakabo 2000:1123 [ref. 25182], Hutchins 2001:22 [ref. 25847], Hutchins 2001:3548 [ref. 26291], Nakabo 2002:1123 [ref. 26193], Allen & Adrim 2003:26 [ref. 26830] as lineatum, Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S99 [ref. 27377], Shibukawa 2009:254 [ref. 30449]). •Valid as Lepadichthys lineatus Briggs 1966 -- (Dor 1984:54 [ref. 29757], Briggs 1986:380 [ref. 5643], Goren & Dor 1994:13 [ref. 25356], Randall 1995:349 [ref. 22896], Briggs 2001:499 [ref. 25236], Craig & Randall 2008:73 [ref. 29543], Allen & Erdmann 2012:839 [ref. 31980], Craig et al. 2015:122 [ref. 33898], Golani & Fricke 2018:144 [ref. 36273], Zajonz et al. 2019:93 [ref. 36871]). Current status: Valid as Lepadichthys lineatus Briggs 1966. Gobiesocidae: Diademichthyinae. Distribution: Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: Socotra, Myanmar, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea. Habitat: marine.
