Holotype (unique): SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 336 [ex AMG]. •Valid as Eckloniaichthys scylliorhiniceps Smith 1943 -- (Briggs 1955:72 [ref. 637], Briggs 1986:379 [ref. 5643], Briggs 2022:440 [ref. 39965]). Current status: Valid as Eckloniaichthys scylliorhiniceps Smith 1943. Gobiesocidae: Chorisochisminae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic, southwestern Indian Ocean: Namibia south to Cape of Good Hope (South Africa), then east to Eastern Cape (South Africa). Habitat: brackish, marine.
