The original genus was incorrectly given as Cypselurus when it should have been Cheilopogon (as in table 15). •Valid as Cypselurus hubbsi Parin 1961 -- (Eschmeyer & Herald 1983:114 [ref. 9277]). •Synonym of Cheilopogon heterurus (Rafinesque 1810), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Parin in Fischer et al. 1995:1098 [ref. 22829], Allen & Robertson 1997:821 [ref. 41086]). •Valid as Cheilopogon hubbsi Parin 1961 -- (Shakhovskoy & Parin 2019:36 [ref. 36674], Page et al. 2023:150 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Cheilopogon hubbsi Parin 1961. Exocoetidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: including Clipperton Island (France). Habitat: marine.
