Replacement name for Barbus hamiltoni Gilchrist & Thompson 1913, secondarily preoccupied by Systomus hamiltonii Jerdon 1849 when in Barbus. •Valid as Barbus afrohamiltoni Crass 1960 -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:221 [ref. 6186], Skelton 1993:162 [ref. 24071], Skelton 2001:162 [ref. 27406], Marshall 2011:97 [ref. 31755]). •Valid as Enteromius afrohamiltoni (Crass 1960) -- (Yang et al. 2015:112 [ref. 33694], Hayes & Armbruster 2017:351 [ref. 35417], Bruton et al. 2018:42 [ref. 36373]). Replacement Name. Current status: Valid as Enteromius afrohamiltoni (Crass 1960). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: Southeastern Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
