R.] 1944:42 [Proceedings of the New England Zoölogical Club v. 23; ref. 13184] Río Jicotea, of Moa system, at bridge of road between Aserrio de Moa and Punta Gorda, Province of Oriente, Cuba. Holotype: USNM 203149 [ex Rivas coll. 132]. Paratypes: Rivas coll. 133 (? now 0); MCZ 36175 (6); UHMP 455 (?); UMMZ 143373 (6, 3 c&s); USNM 130213 (6), 204443 (392, 2 c&s). Type catalog: Faloh-Gandarilla et al. 2016:4 [ref. 35177]. Type information: Rivas 1969:202 [ref. 25092]. •Synonym of Gambusia puncticulata Poey 1854, but a valid subspecies -- (Fink 1971:29 [ref. 21211], Lee et al. 1983:17 [ref. 22527]). •Valid as Gambusia bucheri Rivas 1944 -- (Rauchenberger 1989:3 [ref. 15687], Parenti et al. 1999:6 [ref. 24072], Lucinda in Reis et al. 2003:559 [ref. 27061], Lucinda & Reis 2005:41 [ref. 29205], Meyer 2015:62 [ref. 34698], Faloh-Gandarilla et al. 2016:4 [ref. 35177], Huber 2019:61 [ref. 36941]). Current status: Valid as Gambusia bucheri Rivas 1944. Poeciliidae: Poeciliinae. Distribution: Oriente [Holguin] province, eastern Cuba. Habitat: freshwater.
