belone, Esox Linnaeus [C.] 1761:126 [Fauna Svecica, sistens Animalia Sveciae Regni, ed. II; ref. 13326] European seas. No types known. Neotype designated by Fricke 1999:35 [ref. 24101], but withdrawn in Fricke 2000:639 [ref. 24537]. Placed on Official List in ICZN Opinion 225 as type species of Belone Cuvier 1816 (See also Esox bellone Linnaeus 1758).
