No types known. Also in Nardo 1827:col. 482 and 488 [ref. 19740]. Appeared first as Ciprinoides nanus (name only) in Nardo 1824:259 [ref. 3144]. •In the synonymy of Aphanius fasciatus (Valenciennes 1821) as a nomen oblitum (forgotten name) -- (Tortonese 1973:270 [ref. 7192]). •Mentioned as Aphanius nanus Nardo 1827 -- (Wildekamp et al. 1986:168 [ref. 6198]). •Tentatively a synonym of Aphanius fasciatus (Valenciennes 1821) -- (Kottelat 1997:161 [ref. 22952]). •Synonym of Lebias fasciatus Valenciennes 1821 -- (Lazara 2001:184 [ref. 25711]). •Synonym of Aphanius fasciatus (Valenciennes 1821) -- (Wildekamp 1993:48 [ref. 26378], Wildekamp et al. 1999:34 [ref. 26561], Kottelat et al. 2007:28 [ref. 29116], Freyhof & Yoğurtçuoğlu 2020:433 [ref. 37656]).
