ishikawae, Trachypterus Jordan [D. S.] & Snyder [J. O.] 1901:310, Pl. 17 (fig. 10) [Journal of the College of Science. Imperial University, Tokyo v. 15 (pt 2); ref. 2506] Off mouth of Tokyo Bay, between Misaki and Boshu, Japan. Holotype: ZUMT 589 (not seen in 1997). Original genus shoud have been Trachipterus. The spelling ishikawae is acceptable; early workers almost certainly Latinized the name first, and then added an 'e' (Art. 31.1.1) [WNE, 12 Mar. 2012]. •Synonym of Trachipterus trachypterus (Gmelin 1789) -- (Savinykh & Baitalyuk 2011:588 [ref. 31580]). •Valid as Trachipterus ishikawae Jordan & Snyder 1901 -- (Fujii in Masuda et al. 1984:117 [ref. 6441], Nakabo 2000:406 [ref. 25086], Olney in Randall & Lim 2000:594 [ref. 25122], Sheiko & Fedorov 2000:24 [ref. 25650], Shinohara et al. 2001:302 [ref. 25995], Nakabo 2002:406 [ref. 26001], Mundy 2005:238 [ref. 28379], Shinohara et al. 2011:40 [ref. 31715], Roberts 2012:55 [ref. 32187], Shinohara et al. 2014:240 [ref. 33330], Parin et al. 2014:163 [ref. 33547], Kim et al. 2020:69 [ref. 39118], Sonoyama et al. 2020:27 [ref. 37637], Martin & Hilton 2021:307 [ref. 38678] with question). Current status: Valid as Trachipterus ishikawae Jordan & Snyder 1901. Trachipteridae. Distribution: Western and central North Pacific. Habitat: marine.
