Holotype: AMG P1051. Paratypes: AMG P1052-54 (3, 1 decapitated). Type catalog: Skelton & Stuart 1987:181 [ref. 12628]. •Valid as Barbus bellcrossi Jubb 1965 -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:230 [ref. 6186], Skelton 1993:137 [ref. 24071], Skelton 2001:137 [ref. 27406]). •Valid as Clypeobarbus bellcrossi (Jubb 1965) -- (Conway & Stiassny 2008:263 [ref. 29761], Stiassny & Sakharva 2016:1409 [ref. 34176], Hayes & Armbruster 2017:351 [ref. 35417], Skelton 2019:231 [ref. 36564], Munene et al. 2021:22 [ref. 39283]). Current status: Valid as Clypeobarbus bellcrossi (Jubb 1965). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: Southern-central Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
