Holotype (unique): USNM 44288. Originally as Melamphaës cristiceps. Parin et al. 2014:199 [ref. 33547] excludes curilensis and rugosa and also crasssiceps.. •Synonym of Poromitra crassiceps (Günther 1878) -- (Maul 1973:345 [ref. 7171], Maul 1990:616 [ref. 17237], Gon 1990:219 [ref. 21680], Mecklenburg et al. 2002:318 [ref. 25968], Kotlyar 2004:5 [ref. 27590]). •Valid as Poromitra cristiceps (Gilbert 1890) -- (Fujii in Masuda et al. 1984:110 [ref. 6441], Kotlyar 2009:421 [ref. 30275], Kotlyar 2010:243 [ref. 30796], Parin et al. 2014:199 [ref. 33547], Page et al. 2023:105 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Poromitra cristiceps (Gilbert 1890). Melamphaidae. Distribution: North Pacific, including southern Bering Sea. Habitat: marine.
