Current status: Valid as Gibberichthys latifrons (Thorp 1969). Gibberichthyidae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: East Africa east to Marquesas Islands (French Polynesia), north to Taiwan. IUCN (2019): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
