Possible syntype and/or Lowe specimen: BMNH 1855.11.29.10. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Virginia (U.S.A.) and Bahamas south to Lesser Antilles, including Gulf of Mexico and off Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; southern central Atlantic: Saint Helena, Vavilov’s underwater ridge; eastern Atlantic: Azores, Madeira, Meteor Bank, Canary Islands, and São Tomé and Principe. Possibly northwestern and southwestern Pacific on ref. 36559. Habitat: marine.
