Neotype designated by Banister 1973:27 [ref. 7554]. •Valid as Barbus bynni (Forsskål 1775) -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:233 [ref. 6186], Lévêque in Lévêque et al. 1990:301 [ref. 21589], Lévèque et al. 1991:140 [ref. 31367], Dankwa et al. 1999:26 [ref. 28023], Seegers et al. 2003:31 [ref. 28087] as 'Barbus'). •Valid as Barbus bynni (Fabricius 1775) -- (Fricke 2008:17 [ref. 30182]). •Valid as Labeobarbus bynni (Forsskål 1775) -- (Tsigenopoulos et al. 2010:852 [ref. 34067], Vreven et al. 2016:56 [ref. 34168], Beshera et al. 2016:377 [ref. 34343] as a subspecies bynni, Neumann et al. 2016:304 [ref. 35036], Akoth et al. 2023:8 [ref. 40069]). •Valid as Labeobarbus bynni (Fabricius 1775).
