The plate number (4) given in the original description is in error; should be Pl. 3 [= Pl. 31]. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Portugal south to Cape of Good Hope (South Africa), including Cape Verde Islands; southwestern Indian Ocean: southern South Africa; eastern Pacific: Costa Rica south to Panama, including Cocos Island (Costa Rica), Malpelo Island (Colombia) and Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). IUCN (2015): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
