Lectotype selected by Almaça 1969:1135 [ref. 20712]. •Valid as Barbus callensis Valenciennes 1842 -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:234 [ref. 6186], Azeroual et al. 2000:20 [ref. 25366]). •Valid as Luciobarbus callensis (Valenciennes 1842) -- (Levin et al.2012:544 [ref. 33912], Brahimi et al. 2017:36 [ref. 35360], Brahimi et al. 2018:557 [ref. 35974], Freyhof et al. 2020:5 [ref. 37614]). Current status: Valid as Luciobarbus callensis (Valenciennes 1842). Cyprinidae: Barbinae. Distribution: North Africa: eastern Algeria and Tunesia. Habitat: freshwater.
