biscarensis, Barbus Boulenger [G. A.] 1911:108, Fig. 85 [Catalogue of the fresh-water fishes of Africa v. 2; ref. 579] Algeria. Syntype: BMNH 1856.9.2.14.b (1). Boulenger's style in this work normally was to exclude young from the type series and list adults as "types", but in this species he did not denote a type or types, so all are regarded as syntypes; the use of "Type" with figures was not used in the sense to denote one type. •Synonym of Barbus callensis Valenciennes 1842 -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:235 [ref. 6186]). •Valid as Luciobarbus biscarensis (Boulenger 1911) -- (Levin et al. 2012:544 [ref. 33912], Geiger et al. 2014:Table S2 [ref. 37408], Brahimi et al. 2017:32 [ref. 35360], Brahimi et al. 2018:557 [ref. 35974], Freyhof et al. 2020:5 [ref. 37614]). Current status: Valid as Luciobarbus biscarensis (Boulenger 1911). Cyprinidae: Barbinae. Distribution: North Africa: Shott Melghir basin, El Hodna (Keddara) lake basin and Chiffa River drainage (Algeria). Habitat: freshwater.
