Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Seychelles, Madagascar and Saint Brandon's Shoals east to Philippines and Papua New Guinea, south to northern Australia. Red Sea populations may belong to a separate, endemic species (Kuiter 2009:263 [ref. 30404]). Habitat: marine.
