Holotype (unique): USNM 81770. •Valid as Pseudophallus mindii (Meek & Hildebrand 1923) -- (Villa 1982:151 [ref. 36708], Bussing 1987:164 [ref. 22927], Greenfield & Thomerson 1997:136 [ref. 22947], Bussing 1998:255 [ref. 24179], Fritzsche & Vincent 2003:1222 [ref. 27044], Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:591 [ref. 27061], Menezes & Moura in Menezes et al. 2003:71 [ref. 27192], Kuiter 2009:241 [ref. 30404], Matamoros et al. 2009:16 [ref. 31241], Page et al. 2013:114 [ref. 32708], Phillip et al. 2013:21 [ref. 32896], Angulo et al. 2013:998 [ref. 33194] as mindi, Hamilton et al. 2016:Supplement 3 [ref. 35615]). Current status: Valid as Pseudophallus mindii (Meek & Hildebrand 1923). Syngnathidae: Syngnathinae. Distribution: South and Central America and Caribbean islands: Hondura and Nicaragua to Brazil, Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
