maculatum, Aphyosemion Radda [A. C.] & Pürzl [E.] 1977:27, Fig. 7 [Aquaria: Vivaristische Fachzeitschrift für die Schweiz und Oesterreich v. 24 (no. 2); ref. 7278] Rainforest creek at the Koumameyong-Ovan National highway No.4, 33 kilometers east of Koumameyong, 20 kilometers west of Ovan, northern Gabon. Holotype: NMW 90757. Paratypes: MRAC 77-17-P-477-481 (5), NMW 90754 (3). Also appeared in Radda, Huber & Pürzl 1977:464 [ref. 8890]. •Valid as Aphyosemion (Mesoaphysemion) maculatus Radda & Pürzl 1977 -- (Sonnenberg & Blum 2005:211 [ref. 28302]). •Valid as Mesoaphyosemion maculatum (Radda & Pürzl 1977) -- (van der Zee et al. 2018:88 [ref. 35718], Malumbres et al. 2022:7 [ref. 39641]). •Valid as Aphyosemion maculatum Radda & Pürzl 1977 -- (Wildekamp et al. 1986:223 [ref. 6198], Wildekamp 1993:225 [ref. 26378], Dadaniak et al. 1995:344 [ref. 36170], Lazara 2001:26 [ref. 25711], van der Zee et al. 2007:197 [ref. 30034], Fermon et al. 2022:259 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Aphyosemion maculatum Radda & Pürzl 1977. Nothobranchiidae. Distribution: Western-central Africa: Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Habitat: freshwater.
