Wildekamp et al. 1999:39 [ref. 26561] included the name Cyprinodon striptus Lortet [1883] as a nomen nudum in the synonymy of Aphanius mento (Heckel 1843), but this name has not been used by Lortet 1883 [ref. 14341]. •Synonym of Lebias mento Heckel 1843 -- (Lazara 2001:188 [ref. 25711]). •Synonym of Aphanius mento (Heckel 1843) -- (Krupp & Schneider 1989:390 [ref. 13651], Wildekamp 1993:58 [ref. 26378], Wildekamp et al. 1999:39 [ref. 26561], Fricke et al. 2007:71 [ref. 29533] as scriptus). •Valid as Aphanius striptus Goren 1974 -- (Kärst et al. 2020:161 [ref. 38165]). •Valid as Paraphanius striptus (Goren 1974) -- (Freyhof & Yoğurtçuoğlu 2020:437 [ref. 37656], Çiçek et al. 2023:471 [ref. 40601], Saad et al. 2023:44 [ref. 40501], Çiçek et al. 2024:361 [ref. 40789]). Current status: Valid as Paraphanius striptus (Goren 1974). Aphaniidae. Distribution: Middle East: Israel and southwestern Syria. Habitat: freshwater.
