Holotype: SAMA F3453. Paratypes: AMNH 32956 (6); AMS I.17756-001 (12), I.17756-002 (6); BMNH 1976.6.4.1-6 or 1976.4.12.1-6 (6); MNHN 1974-0088 (6); SAMA F3453 (1 female labeled allotype, + 20); F3466 (8); UMMZ 202438 (10); ZMA 113370 (6). Type catalog: Glover 1976:170 [ref. 19449] with no mention of paratype SAMA F3466, Nijssen et al. 1982:73 [ref. 19236]. Appeared first in the Sydney Morning Herald, 1 June 1974, but that is regarded as unintended for the permanent scientific record. •Valid as Craterocephalus dalhousiensis Ivantsoff & Glover 1974 -- (Paxton et al. 1989:358 [ref. 12442], Crowley & Ivantsoff 1992:278 [ref. 20015], Ivantsoff & Crowley in McDowall 1996:128 [ref. 22909], Unmack 2001:1061 [ref. 25797], Allen et al. 2002:130 [ref. 25930], Hammer & Walker 2004:88 [ref. 28129], Paxton et al. 2006:706 [ref. 28995], Ivantsoff & Allen 2011:54 [ref. 31135], Hammer et al. 2012:64 [ref. 32389]). Current status: Valid as Craterocephalus dalhousiensis Ivantsoff & Glover 1974. Atherinidae: Craterocephalinae. Distribution: Australia: Dalhousie Mound Springs (Great Artesian basin, South Australia) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
