Current status: Valid as Scorpaenodes insularis Eschmeyer 1971. Scorpaenidae: Scorpaeninae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: St. Paul's Rocks (Saint Peter and Saint Paul Archipelago); southern central Atlantic: Ascension and Saint Helena islands. Habitat: marine.
