Holotype (unique): SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 328. The only warmwater snailfish; attempts to discredit the locality have failed. •Valid as Liparis fishelsoni Smith 1967 -- (Dor 1984:91 [ref. 29757], Goren & Dor 1994:23 [ref. 25356], Chernova et al. 2004:23 [ref. 27592], Chernova 2008:841 [ref. 30236], Bogorodsky & Randall 2018:[4] 242 [ref. 36492], Golani & Fricke 2018:59 [ref. 36273], Anderson 2022:613 [ref. 39705]). Current status: Valid as Liparis fishelsoni Smith 1967. Liparidae. Distribution: Southern Red Sea endemic; known only from the holotype. Habitat: marine.
