Holotype (unique): BMNH 1930.8.26.44. •Valid as Branchiostegus semifasciatus (Norman 1931) -- (Dooley 1978:40 [ref. 5499], Dooley & Kailola 1988:251 [ref. 7299], Dooley 1990:719 [ref. 18458], Afonso et al. 1999:73 [ref. 25466], Wirtz et al. 2007:31 [ref. 30263], Hiramatsu & Yoshina 2012:41 [ref. 32026], Dooley in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2437 [ref. 34618], Freitas et al. 2018:74 [ref. 36259], Reiner 2019:183 [ref. 38139], Fermon et al. 2022:276 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Branchiostegus semifasciatus (Norman 1931). Latilidae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Morocco south to Angola, including Cape Verde Islands, and São Tomé and Principe. Habitat: marine.
