Holotype (unique): AMS IA.7288. •Valid as Coius campbelli (Whitley 1939) -- (Roberts & Kottelat 1994:258 [ref. 21569] with range as Gulf of Papua drainages and coastal waters of New Guinea, Carpenter 2001:2945 [ref. 26101]). •Synonym of Datnioides quadrifasciatus (Sevastianov 1809) -- (Allen 1991:138 [ref. 21090] [but see quadrifasciatus]). •Valid as Datnioides campbelli Whitley 1939 -- (Allen et al. 2008:119 [ref. 30265]). Current status: Valid as Datnioides campbelli Whitley 1939. Lobotidae. Distribution: South-central New Guinea (Papua Province, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea). Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
