Holotype: NSMT-P 18221. Paratypes: Katayama's Fish Coll. 5516 (2, apparently lost). Type catalog: Anderson 2018:11 [ref. 36146]. •Synonym of Caprodon longimanus (Günther 1859) -- (Mundy 2005:340 [ref. 28379]). •Status uncertain -- (Anderson & Heemstra 2012:23 [ref. 31956]). •Valid as Caprodon unicolor Katayama 1975 -- (Randall 2007:190 [ref. 30952], Anderson 2018:11 [ref. 36146], Parenti & Randall 2020:11 [ref. 37354]).
