Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Gulf of Aden, South Africa, Socotra, Persian Gulf, Madagascar and western Mascarenes east to Marquesas Islands, north to Japan, south to Rottnest Island (Western Australia), New Caledonia, northern New Zealand, Kermadec Islands and Tonga.
