unimaculatus, Anthias Tanaka [S.] 1917:199 [Dobutsugaku Zasshi = Zoological Magazine Tokyo v. 29 (no. 345); ref. 4330] Tanabe, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. Holotype (unique): apparently lost, not specimen now in ZUMT 9961. Species described as above in Japanese, later illustrated and described in more detail in English and Japanese in Tanaka 1922:588, Pl. 145 (fig. 403) [ref. 4334]. •Valid as Holanthias unimaculatus (Tanaka 1917) -- (Heemstra & Randall 1999:2469 [ref. 24815], Nakabo 2000:699 [ref. 25086], Randall in Randall & Lim 2000:610 [ref. 25122], Nakabo 2002:699 [ref. 26001]). •Valid as Odontanthias unimaculatus (Tanaka 1917) -- (Katayama in Masuda et al. 1984:134 [ref. 6441], Yamakawa in Okamura et al. 1985:467, 667 [ref. 8056], Lee 1990:12 [ref. 19830], Randall & Heemstra 2006:23 [ref. 28602], White 2011:22 [ref. 31494], Motomura et al. 2017:90 [ref. 35490], Anderson 2018:24 [ref. 36146]). Current status: Valid as Odontanthias unimaculatus (Tanaka 1917). Serranidae: Anthiadinae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: Japan, Taiwan, Philippines and eastern Indonesia. Habitat: marine.
